Golden Opportunities Fund Invests $1.5 Million Into Nutraceutical Products Company!

Golden Opportunities Fund is pleased to announce an investment of $1.5 million into Cevena Bioproducts Inc. providing the Fund with approximately 18% ownership in the company. Cevena Bioproducts, headquartered in Edmonton with offices in Saskatoon, is a supplier of proprietary, natural, science-based cholesterol-lowering ingredients to the rapidly growing nutraceutical products market. This investment is part of a $6.0 million syndicated financing with three other senior venture capital firms, making this one of the largest health and nutritional financings in Canada this year.

The financing will ensure Cevena’s successful commercialization of Viscofiber, the highest quality beta-glucan concentrate, derived from oats and barley, available to the food and dietary supplement markets. This novel and clinically proven ingredient offers unsurpassed heart-health and satiety benefits to the supplement and food markets. Viscofiber, Cevena’s lead product, is derived from oats and barley via a patented fractionation process that yields the richest, highest quality beta-glucan ingredient on the market today.
