Golden Opportunities Fund Inc. is pleased to announce it has acquired 419,999 Common Shares in VCom at a purchase price of $7.50 per share through its initial public offering for a total investment of $3.15 Million. VCom designs, manufactures and sells products that enable broadband access to cable, wireless and telephony networks. VCom’s hardware products incorporate embedded software developed by it to meet the complex requirements of next-generation, high-speed digital networks. Service providers use VCom’s solutions to deliver services to a converging worldwide broadband market, including what are commonly known as “triple play” (voice, video and data) and “quadruple play” (voice, video, data and wireless) services. VCom’s solutions allow service providers to rapidly and cost-effectively bridge the final network segment that connects the system directly to end-users, commonly referred to as “the last mile”, by overcoming the bottleneck resulting from insufficient carrying capacity in legacy last-mile infrastructures. VCom’s products are directed at three principal markets: Data over Cable, Broadband Wireless and Digital Video. Hugh Wood, COO of VCom states ”VCom is pleased that Golden Opportunities has taken the initiative to invest in our initial offering and shows leadership in supporting a Saskatchewan company.”
Grant Kook, CEO and Chairman of Golden Opportunities Fund states “VCom has been one of Saskatchewan’s most successful growth stories. It is only fitting they have now moved to the national stage with a successful initial public offering, and Golden Opportunities Fund and its 10,000 Saskatchewan shareholders are pleased to be a major part of it.”
Golden Opportunities Fund Inc. is Saskatchewan’s first and largest Provincial Labour-sponsored Fund, having raised over $62 million in share capital to date from approximately 10,000 shareholders.
